High schoolers of my generation consume information through podcasts and short form content because those media make complex topics relatable. Post-pandemic, more students from my generation are thinking of medical careers and are fascinated by the journey that pre-meds are taking both academically and socially in their undergraduate years. As a high school producer of this podcast, I feel an obligation to share real time experiences of students’ research, community healthcare outreach, and pre-med preparations.
While there are many ways for high schoolers to learn about the content of pre-med courses, there are few ways to learn about cutting-edge medical research going on across U.S. campuses, the latest classes that best prepare one for the evolving world of medicine, and how we can make impact in the field of healthcare before we even reach medical school.
It is my hope that PreMedRadio will inspire teenagers to pursue STEM research now and to create their own niche projects in healthcare outreach that fill the voids they see.
